Pouco depois, aos 24 minutos, o Juventude abriu o placar com Gilberto, que girou na grande área e finalizou no canto, sem chances para Rafael Cabral. O Juventude manteve a pressão, e aos 31 minutos, João Lucas ampliou para 2×0 após um cruzamento e falha da defesa gremista.
O Grêmio teve um gol anulado aos 34 minutos por impedimento de Edenílson, que cabeceou após cobrança de escanteio. Aos 40 minutos, Pavón criou uma ótima chance para Cristaldo, mas o goleiro Gabriel defendeu. O primeiro tempo terminou com o Juventude na frente.
